CSK Meeting

Post by mbishton »

Hi all,

Being relatively new to the group, has there been any mention of a CSK meeting? Maybe somewhere fairly central for those of us in the UK, perhaps at the Heritage Centre?

I used to work there many years ago and I'm ex-Land Rover Special Vehicles (after the CSK unfortunately) so may well be able to organise something there through some contacts if necessary?

Whats the general opinion of an annual meet up of CSK's?

Cheers,

Hey Matt,

Yeah sounds good. Maybe a club stand at Gaydon next year at the heritage land rover weekend would be good.
There has been a CSK club stand there before with a few on.

This was talked about last year (or was it the year before) - generally I completely agree, we DO need to organise a meet, especially as next year is the 40th of the Range Rover and the 20th of the CSK :)

Hi James - I had a feeling the CSK would be represented, but think your idea at the Land Rover weekend would be great and there is nearly a whole year to get something organised!

Hi Stuart

Thats a very good point! Like I mentioned previously, the weekend isn't until next May, so we should get our heads together and maybe organise something? anything?

I'm up for something, but I work every Saturday so shows are sometimes tricky.

Hi all

Yes I floated the ideas of both a single point (central England) meet and also a "rally" where we were thinking in terms of a tour around the UK with people joining for as much or as little of the route as their petrol consumption permitted!!!

There was an almost deafening lack of interest in both ideas.

BUT... with next year the 20th anniversary, and of course the CSK itself being a 20th anniversary edition itself, if we can't organise this next year then we never will.

SO... may we work on the idea of a meet, and I agree Gaydon would seem to be a great place to try and do this. Obvious heritage connections and fairly central too.

If we can get a date in the diary then we can perhaps look at the rally idea as well, perhaps over the week running up to our Gaydon event, and combine the best of both ideas.

I might even get my restoration completed in time. It went in for a few months and it's been two years now... but it's looking fabulous. I'm envious of people who can do an entire chassis in 12 weeks :)

best,
John

Yes, but the CSK isn't... ;-)

Now, are we going to make the 20th/40th anniversary something to remember?
